MOTION CALLING ON THE KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT TO REHABILITATE THE DILAPIDATED STRUCTURES AND EQUIP THE LABORATORY OF ANKPA COMMUNITY GRAMMAR SCHOOL OPULEGA-ANKPA, KOGI STATE.
The Rt. Honourable Speaker, my Distinguish colleagues, please permits me to draw your attention to a Community Grammar school Opulega-Ankpa, my community.
Whereas, Education is the best legacy any government can give to her citizen, and as such, the importance of education as a key to manpower development and socio-economic growth in any given society cannot be overemphasized, it is one of the very important stage of education that prepares students ahead of higher tasks, eradicate illiteracy, ignorance and poverty as well as stimulate and accelerate national development. Whereas, the Community Grammar School Opulega-Ankpa LGA, which was a toast in its hay days is now an eyesore.
The community grammar school was one of the oldest public school established and has produced lots of very prominent persons to the society. But today, the school lack practical or technical facilities. The teaching environment is not conducive, all the buildings used for lab purposes have completely collapsed and overgrown by weeds, dilapidated blocks of classrooms, broken doors, windows, scruffy chalkboards and no recreational facilities for students, and it is said to be responsible for the recent fall in the academic performance of the students, significant fall of students population and candidates for external examination. In fact, the school structure is completely collapsed.
Prayers:
The Rt. Honourable speaker, Distinguished colleagues, in the light of the above, i therefore solicit your support all and to resolve as follows;
1. That the Kogi State government adopt an emergency approach to bringing Community grammar school back to life by providing all necessary equipments and infrastructure.
2. That the Kogi State government must identify all public schools that is facing imminent collapse and ensure timely intervention for them to function at maximum level.
This is a distress call on the Kogi State government to save our public schools.
