Dear Nigerians, you may recall that in June 2017 we brought to your notice the plans by the promoter of Global Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Alhaji Musa Bello and Kogi State governor Alh. Yahaya Bello to divert Ajaokuta Steel complex to their private property using a fraudulently registered corporate vehicle “Ajaokuta Kogi Nigeria Limited” (AKNL).
The fraud:
Kogi state government wrote 2 consent letters (in addition to a personal visit by the Mr. Idris Asiwaju who is the commissioner of Finance and Economic Development) to CAC for the registration of AKNL as a Joint Venture vehicle to acquire Ajaokuta for Kogites. While in reality, Kogi state was not allotted a single share. Neither was Kogi state legally represented in any way or form.
The Petition:
On the 3rd of July 2017, we intimated CAC on the aforementioned and requested remedial actions. CAC was disappointed that the registration of AKNL failed in adhering to the proposed intentions and took the following steps:
1. Cancelation of name: CAC contacted Governor Yahaya Bello and Alh. Musa Bello desist from using the name Ajaokuta Kogi Nigeria Limited . Documents to such registration are to be returned to the commission.
2. Drop “Ajaokuta” and “Kogi” from any of such transactions since the people of Kogi were not legally represented.
3. If Alhaji Musa Bello wishes to continue his acquisition of Ajaokuta Steel company, he must within 6 weeks notify the CAC panel of investigators and use a different company.
4. CAC wrote to DSS to investigate the fraud alleged within and advice accordingly.
So far, I’d say thank you to CAC for taking this bold step against the pressure from Kogi state government to do otherwise.
I say huge congratulations to the good people of Nigeria. This is the first time  citizens challenge government’s investment activities on fraud and procedural irregularities.
This is proof that Nigeria can be better if the citizens stop being gullible and timid in the face of corruption. I urge every Nigerian to stop complaining but get involved in governance by asking smart questions and challenging unreasonable actions of any governor, minister or legislative. This is your Nigeria, don’t let anyone’s unpatriotic ideals and uncontrollable greed destroy your today and your children’s tomorrow.
This victory is for all beloved Kogites and Nigerians.
Dear DSS,
Please don’t disappoint us. Remember sentiments kill honor.
Long live Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited
Long live Kogi state
Long live Nigeria
Ever Yours,
– Natasha Akpoti
