The Director General of National Action Against Hate Speech (NAAHS), Engr. Oladipo Makakese Bayode has slammed those spreading false information about the person of the Edward Onoja, the Chief of Staff to Kogi Governor, as ill-advised detractors.

Bayode, while reacting to recent publications by Senator Dino Melaye that the Chief of Staff will be probed over alleged fraud committed while working in the banking sector, called on Kogites and the general public to disregard the malicious information being circulated as it intend to smear the hard earned reputation of Edward Onoja.

“We in NAAHS see no reason why genuine approvals of authorizing officer for bank transaction in 2011 now resurface as an item of alleged corruption”, he said.

To further prove that the peddlers are men of no ideas, NAAHS claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had investigated the alleged fraud issues in 2011.

“I am tempted to ask if Hon. Edward Onoja has been dragged to court since 2011. Let’s stop this distraction”, the DG insisted.

According to him, Onoja’s career growth and antecedents are known to many and his activities are verifiable. He said Onoja worked meritoriously with Gtbank and left the bank on 31st January, 2009 for Access bank as a relationship manager.

He called on traditional rulers, clergy and opinion moulders to caution politicians against divisive utterances and actions.
