Press Release
22nd March, 2017
DECLARATION OF INTENT TO RUN FOR CHAIRMAN, NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN), KOGI STATE CHAPTER
This is to humbly declare, at the instance of the greatest Kogi State Youths and Stakeholders, my aspiration to vie for the Chairmanship Position of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter. My intent was born after due consultations with my family members, council stakeholders, mentors, friends and colleagues.
With years of professional and political experience in Youth activities and affairs, I believe I am the ideal Candidate for the Chairmanship position.
I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Kogi State University, Anyigba in 2011 and had my Masters in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at National Open University, 2015. During my undergraduate days, I was privileged to serve in different leadership capacities, which developed my capabilities used to champion the cause of students and youths.
I was President of the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS) from 2008 to 2009 where i served as the link between the students and the department, i used this position to address issues that bordered on students welfare within the department. In 2009, I became the pioneer Speaker of the Student Union Government (SUG) KSU Chapter. With this position, i presided over the law making aspect of the SUG for effective running of union and also carried out oversight functions to ensure proper implementation of policies for the general good of the students. By the special grace of God, I am the Executive Director, Youth Initiative Against Unlawful Emigration – A youth focused NGO with thematic focus on youth Emigration in Africa and it’s adverse effects to their lives as well as Political/economic impact of youth emigration.
My most recent position as the Financial Secretary of the NYCN, gave me a great deal of experience that I feel would directly benefit the youth council. I was charged with keeping financial records of the Council, and this I did with excellence. While doing this, I built a good working relationship with all my contemporaries. I value greatly the lessons learnt and the skills I have acquired. I feel it is time to aspire for a higher position where my experience and skills would be put to effective and positive use for the greater good of the Youths of Kogi State.
In addition to my demonstrated competence in time past, I hail from the Western Senatorial District of Kogi state and I have been in the business of grassroot development and peace advocacy in Kogi state.
The Chairmanship position has been on my radar for quite a while now, and there is no better time than this to realise a Youth Rebirth in Kogi State. I  therefore seize the opportunity presented.
Given my education and experience, I am confident that I am of excellent character and have the requisite qualities for the NYCN Chairmanship seat in Kogi state. I have researched my popularity and strength and determined that the Chairmanship position and my SWOT is a strong match.
Let me commend the New Direction Pilot and the Youngest Governor in Nigeria, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for appointing young people of proven competence and character into various positions in his cabinet and also for creating the conducive atmosphere for youths to function effectively. This  act deserves our commendation and applause.
Before I round up this press statement, May I quickly use this opportunity to salute our Stakeholders and most importantly the current executives of the council. Their contribution to youth development in Kogi State is unimaginable. History will certainly be kind to them.
Finally, In a couple of days, we will role out our action plans aimed at rebuilding National Youth Council in Kogi State.
