Ndako Appeals to Kogi Govt to Order Company Handling Felele-Agbaja Road to Return to Site

A member representing Lokoja II state constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Idris Ndako has appealed to Kogi State Government to recalled EEC International Company, the firm handling Felele-Agbaja road, back to site.

 

Ndako made the appeal in a motion of urgent importance he presented today at the plenary season in Lokoja.

 

He explained that the contract for the construction of Felele-Agbaja road was awarded to the company since 2011 by the previous administration, but abandoned by the company.

 

According to the lawmaker, with the current economic recession in the country, the State Government need to order the contractor to return to site.

 

The Government of Kogi State can no longer tolerate economic waste in the face of the current economic situation of the country more so as it relates to abandoned Felele-Agbaja road project in Lokoja II Constituency.

 

” The road contract must be revisited as a matter of urgent public importance and the contractors be called back to site”, he said.

 

Ndako, going down the memory lane, further stated that the previous administration haven discovered the abundant mineral resources in Oworo land in 2011, including that which was discovered recently by the African Polaris and KCM Companies and the need to exploit same for the benefit of the State, awarded the Felele-Agbaja road covering about 28 kilometers to EEC international Limited.

 

“Worried about the huge investment by government on this project, its abandonment and the huge contract sum totaling about One Billion, four Hundred and Sixty Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty One Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty Three Naira Five kobo (1,460,731,223.05), it has become imperative for this noble House to intervene as always, to order the contractor back to site.”

“It is my hope that the Kogi State Government under the Leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello save the tax payers money from being wasted as a result of abandoned project”

He explained further that as a representative of his people he felt disturbed and worried on the way the road project was abandoned, and appealed to the House Committee on Works to take a visit to the site and investigate and report to the House.
