…Gov. Bello is a promise keeper
The member representing Ankpa II State Constituency, Honourable Momoh Rabiu Alfa and the people of his constituency have poured encomiums on the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for flagging off the rehabilitation of Ankpa-Abejukolo road.
The lawmaker who praised Governor Bello for having his people in mind in his quest to deliver good governance said the road was the economic live-wire of his people who are monotonously farmers, noting that absence of road network has affected their farm yield and loss of value in agriculture.
“His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has made us in Ankpa ii to feel that we are no more a marginalized constituency. It feels better as a people after years of neglect to have this road rehabilitated. When His Excellency came to Ankpa few months ago during our moment of grief over the passing of Ejeh of Ankpa, he promised to remobilise contractors handling Ankpa township road back to site. Today work is ongoing on the township road. Due to bad condition of this road and its negative effect on my people, I moved a motion calling on your kogi state government to as a matter of urgency rehabilitate this road for us. His Excellency today is here flagging off the reconstruction of Ankpa-Ejegbo-Ejema-Odagba-Enabo-Ofugo-Abejukolo road. He has demonstrated that he is a leader who holds up to his words. By awarding the construction of this Road that was a night mare to all of the people in Ankpa and Omala Local Government Areas, Bello has demonstrated equity and fairness in the execution of projects by his administration”, he said.
The lawmaker who is described by his people as a pragmatic and straightforward grassroots politician also commended the governor for the rehabilitation of Ankpa township road which became a monumental embarrassment to the people of Ankpa over the years.
Hon Rabiu said the only way for him and the people of Ankpa ii to show their appreciations for the efforts of the administration of Yahaya Bello towards alleviating the suffering of the people was to remain supportive of the policies and programme of the New Direction that are people oriented.
Ankpa- Abejukolo road which cuts across many communities such as Emere, Odagba, Enabo, Ofugo, all in Ankpa ii has been neglected for almost a decade now. The road was not a road less-travelled; in fact, it was a popular road linking the two local government areas to many parts of the country. But popular as the road was, it was a road abandoned; a death trap that has become an albatross for the agrarian communities. As the ancient local government’ Ankpa’ is rich in history and human resources the same cannot be said of its infrastructure, especially its roads, which many residents have bemoaned for the sordid states.
