Kogi state government has assured civil servants, especially those who fail to scale through the appeals stage of the verification, that no genuine worker will be laid off.
This re-assurances was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo.
Fanwo acknowledged that current and outstanding salaries are being paid following the directive of Governor Yahaya Bello that all outstanding salaries be paid before December 20, 2016.
“We are not making the payment of salaries a big news because workers are entitled to their pay. I have received calls from people who have been finally cleared and who have been paid between 4-7 months arrears. This is plausible.
I have interfaced with the committee and we have facts and figures of what we have paid”, he said.
“From January 2017, salaries will be paid before the end of every month. This is what we want to achieve.
“To those who didn’t scale through the Appeals stage of the verification, we shall publish the full list and why they couldn’t scale through. Windows of justice shall be opened to keep touch with the promise of the Governor that no worker will be unjustifiably removed from the payrolls.
“We appreciate the patience of the Kogi people. We appreciate our critics. We appreciate our supporters. We need everybody contributions to succeed.
“Governor Yahaya Bello will work for Kogi. Kogi should support their Governor to succeed. He did not venture into the verification exercise to punish workers, but to ensure people do not sit in Kaduna and be drawing from what legitimate workers only should take. The exercise is a fight in support of the genuine workers.
He promised that the full list of salaries paid and the beneficiaries will be published in the newspapers and on the state government website before end of next week.
