The Neighbourhood Enlightenment and Safety Organization (NESO) has trained over 350 volunteers with requisite skills in preventing crime.
The NESO volunteers who were drawn from communities across three states of Kogi, Kwara and Niger as well as the FCT, were taken through a four-day intensive training at the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO), Itakpe, Kogi State.
The training which had as theme the “Roles of Bridging Security Gap in Our Communities”, was facilitated by the Corps Commandant-General of NESO, Comrade Sani Aliyu.
Addressing journalists at the closing ceremony of the training, Comrade Aliyu said tackling security issues at the community level was key to national security and development, hence the need for the training of the volunteers, who were not conventional security personnel.
