The decision of Kogi state government to go ahead with the constitution of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe contracts classified as “abandoned” by the previous administration in the state has been faulted by the Peoples Democratic Party Youth Frontier (PDPNYF).

The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mr Usman Okai Austin, described the move as diversionary, politically motivated and ill timed‎.

It stated that the action of the government was aimed at indicting the previous regime and deploying political weapons to settle party differences.

The Group said “no single projects of the previous administration was abandoned and challenged the government of Yahaya bello to give account of the monies it has collected since the inception of his administration.

“We wonder what parameter Governor Yahaya Bello used in  arriving at a premeditated and pre-positioned inquiry,” it said, and accused the government of plotting to indict a “transparent administration.”

The group National Coordinator advised the government not to waste public funds meant to carry out developmental activities and economic enhancement of the people of Kogi and urged it to deploy its energies to source for funds and pay arrears of workers’ salaries.
