The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo has assured the people of Kogi State of the readiness of the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration to develop Kogi State and take her to enviable heights.
Fanwo disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja, Sunday, saying the State has witnessed systematic progress since the inauguration of the present administration in the State.
He said: “We need to appreciate the rot in the State before the advent of Alh. Yahaya Bello as Governor of the State.
However, the Governor is not prepared to give excuses. He has rolled up his sleeves to deliver solid developmental projects to the State.
“One of the key achievements of the present administration is the success in getting contractors back to sites of projects which were hitherto abandoned. The message is clear: contractors must deliver on their mandate. A number of new projects have also been initiated by the administration to boost the economy through infrastructural development.
“Education, job creation through Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, Agro-Business as well as healthcare delivery are key to the New Direction blueprint of the present administration. The Governor is also looking at the quick-wins that can immediately impact on the welfare of the people”.
On the decision of the Governor to institute a Judicial Panel to look into the books of the State from 2003-2016, the Governor’s image maker said there was nothing wrong with the idea, saying only people who perpetrated malfeasance will be jittery.
“There is nothing political in the decision. It is conceived by the Governor for two reasons. One, to ensure that monies stolen from the coffers of the State are recovered. Two, it is aimed at ensuring current political office holders remain transparent in conducting government businesses. Governor Yahaya Bello is running a transparent and accountable government.
“We do not expect anyone that is clean to cry foul just because government wants to ask questions that border on accountability. Nobody will be victimized. The Governor will ensure the panel acts on fair lines”.
Fanwo said the decision of government to appoint a female as Chief Press Secretary to the Governor is in line with the gender sensitivity of the Bello Administration.
According to him, “we don’t have many states with females as Chief Press Secretary. The Governor’s decision to appoint a female as Chief Press Secretary is to prove to the womenfolk that resourceful women would be given opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the development of the State under his leadership”.
The Director General called on the people of the State to support the “Change Begins With Me” in order to create a new Nigeria “of resourcefulness, order and discipline, which are catalysts for greatness”.
