Kogi State has disclosed plans to refund N27,000 to each of the pilgrims from the state who participated in the 2015 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Chairman of the State Hajj Commission, Sadiq Muhammed Rabiu, the refund is for services not rendered while they were in the holy land.

The amount is part of N24 million refund given to the commission by the Saudi authorities for reimbursement to pilgrims from the state.

Rabiu spoke during a familiarisation tour of Kogi East Senatorial District to create awareness for the 2016 Hajj operation.

According to him: “The refund is meant for those services which were supposed to be provided but were missing, hence the Saudi authorities usually make refunds.”

He said last year’s pilgrims from the state left the holy land earlier than scheduled, adding that the Saudi government in its resolve to be fair and accountable decided to pay the sum of N24 million to the commission’s account.
