Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Kogi State, slated for November 21, a pressure group, Ebira Youth Congress (EYC), has endorsed Dr Philip Omeiza Salawu, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP),  as its consensus candidate.

Salau was a former deputy governor in the state.

A communiqué signed by the group’s President General, Comrade Sheik Mamman, and Secretary, Baba Abdulrazaq, said that they took the decision at their congress after assessing the wealth of experience of the LP candidate.

“Amongst the available candidates, Dr Philip O. Salau remains the most experienced, politically matured, sagacious and someone very familiar with the socio-political terrain of Kogi.

“Given his almost nine years’ experience as deputy governor of the state, Dr Philip Salau had directly experienced the suffering of the oppressed people of Kogi State.

“He appears sufficiently prepared and equipped to champion the liberation struggle, having promptly presented himself,” the communiqué said.
