The choice of Olori Margaret Orebiyi as Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Women Leader in the just concluded state congress has been described as a strategic placement of a round peg in a round hole.
A cross section of women politicians from Yagba axis who spoke with our reporter described Orebiyi as a grassroot women mobilizer with vast political experience.
Orebiyi is well educated with a good records as an administrator. Olori Orebiyi is the only female House of Representive member-elect in the history of Kogi state.

The amazon, Olori Margaret Bosede Orebiyi, was born in Ogbom, Yagba East LGA of Kogi state. She attended Women Training College Kabba, before proceeding to to College of Education, Ilorin where she had her NCE. She proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where she had her first degree in creative arts. Later she further her education to Obafemi Awolowo university ile Ife where she bagged Masters in Public Administration.
She rose to the rank of Director Personnel Management at Ministry of Education, Lokoja. She resigned from there to join politics.
After retirement, she was appointed on merit as Registrar, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja. She was former commissioner for women affairs and two time chairman kogi state teaching service commission. During Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, Orebiyi was appointed Board chairman of FCE, Zaria.
A former zonal women leader, Kogi West, a position she held before her recent election as kogi state PDP state women leader.
