Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary election in Kogi State, Igala Youth Progressive Forum, IYPF, has drummed support for the senator representing Kogi-East at the National Assembly, Senator Attai Aidoko Ali.

This was contained in a communiqué signed by IYPF secretary, Hon. Mohammed Yusuf, after its general meeting held at Okpo in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state, stating that it is routing the incumbent senator, because it is satisfied with the policies and efforts of Senator Ali to improved the living standard of the people of the district and the state in general.

It said: “Since the return of democracy in 1999, and out of the three federal constituencies in the Eastern senatorial district, Dekina/Bassa federal constituency has produced two senators, Senator Alex Kadri for a single term of four years between 1999 and2003 and Senator Nicholas Yahaya Ugbane for two-term of eight years between 2003-2011); it is therefore morally justifiable and politically equitable for Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala federal constituency to be supported and encouraged to complete its own second term, with the incumbent, Senator Ali to continue in 2015 because of his legislative experience and his sound policies and programmes for the people of the district.”

IYPF listed the programs of the senator to include: free computer training from which over 7,00 people have benefitted; scholarship scheme for graduate and post graduate students, from which over 1,000 students have benefitted; provision of over 50 500KVA transformers to boost the power need of the district; construction of classroom blocks across the 9 local government areas of the district and construction of motorised and solar powered boreholes across the district, among others.

A PDP stalwart in Olamaboro Local Government Area, Alhaji Yahaya Alfa acknowledged the developmental impact of the senator in the distric, urging people of the Eastern senatorial district to call on Senator Ali to run again in 2015.
