The All Progressive Congress in Kogi State has accused the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. Jacob Jatau, of conniving with the Peoples Democratic Party to compromise the assembly election.

Speaking with journalists in Lokoja yesterday, the party’s chairman, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo, alleged that the commission only declared election in areas won by the APC inconclusive.

“We won in ten local government areas and the result sheets were signed by INEC returning officers in the various collection centres.  But we heard that election in some of those areas were declared inconclusive,” he said.

He said Ofu and Dekina/Biraudu seats were won by the party but that rather than declare the results, INEC said elections in those areas were inconclusive. He added that the party will challenge the decision through legal means.

“We want to let people know what is happening, especially the work the REC is doing in Kogi State. We earlier raised alarm that the REC was kept at the government lodge in order to compromise the election”, he said.
