A Chief Magistrate Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, Friday remanded two drivers and a photographer in prison custody for alleged criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and causing grievous hurt.
The three accused persons, Mohammed Ibrahim, 28, Napoleon Stanley, 30, both automobile drivers and a photographer, Tenimu Saliu, 26, all of Emiworo village near Lokoja, were said to have on December 12, last year invaded the house of one Otse Godwin, a cashier of same address and robbed him of N850,000 cash while armed with dangerous weapons.
The prosecutor, Mr Tuesday Ganagana, told the court that the offence was reported at ‘C’ Division police station Lokoja and later at the Department of Criminal Investigation of the command headquarters by one Oyigba innocent of Emiworo village.
He said the accused who were initially unknown were later identified through investigation, adding that the accused subjected their victim to severe torture and inflicted injuries on his head before robbing him of N850,000.
The prosecutor further said that Godwin was rushed to Concord Clinic in Gadumo area of Lokoja, where he was admitted. He said the offences are contrary to Sections 97(1), 248 and 298 of the Penal Code especially 298(C) and were not ordinarily bailable.
