As part of efforts to safeguard lives and property on campus, the management of Kogi State University, Anyigba, may have moved to ban hawking in classrooms, lecture theatres and residential quarters.

This is one of the developments noted at the end of second sitting of the 75th Regular Meeting of the Senate of the institution held recently at the senate building, Anyigba.

According to an Internal Memo signed by the Principal Assistant Registrar (Senate Matters) to the university’s late Registrar, J A. Zhizhi, the management also expressed worry over the insecurity in Anyigba town and approved the banning of hawking in the areas mentioned.

The memo added that all illegal routes into the campus should be blocked and that students and staff alike should provide adequate security at all roads to the university’s campus and directed the Chief security Coordinator on campus to enforce the decision.

It would be recalled that authorities of the institution had earlier warned the students against movements at night at this period due to the threats being faced as a result of the insecurity that has led to some cases of kidnap and assassination in Anyigba Community.
