Patients, who thronged the Specialists Hospital and Federal Medical Centre, both in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, went home disappointed, as there was no doctor to attend to them.

The news of the suspension of almost two months’ old strike of  medical doctors was received with enthusiasm, was, however, truncated, as the doctors were nowhere to be found near the hospitals.

Monitoring the situation round the hospitals at the state capital, the Nigerian Tribune found out that the doctors were not at the consulting room to attend to the patients around.

It was, however, found out later that the doctors were attending a crucial meeting, as  the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Dr Debo Elesin,  informed that the doctors had actually resumed, but “are holding series of  meetings with the stakeholders.”

One of the patient, Garba Umar, told the Nigerian Tribune that he came early to the hospital based on the news that the strike had been suspended, explaining that he was later told to go back home,  because the doctors were in a crucial meeting.
