Police Arrest Fake EFCC Operatives at Federal Polytechnic, Idah

Police have arrested a four men who parade themselves as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in Kogi State. A member of the group, Jackson Umosen, claimed to be a pastor of Omega Fire Ministries.

Parading the suspects yesterday, the state deputy commissioner of police, Mr Austin Evbawiavbowin, gave the names of other members of the syndicate as; Daniel Njaiji,  Samuel Ogbebor and Agwai peter.

He said the suspects went to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Mathew Akpata, claiming they were officials of the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, and that they were at the school  to inspect some on-going projects.
According to him, the rector who received them,  led the team to the field where they  inspected some of projects.

He said when a management staff of the institution demanded to see their identification cards,  Samuel Ogbebor flashed an  EFCC identity card. According to the police boss, it was that action that caused the rector and his staff to be suspicious of the men.

“They then alerted the police. Items recovered from them include a Toyota Camry with Reg No APP 630 BD, Seven handsets, one EFCC identification card, bearing Samuel Ogbebor and  a Zenith Bank ATM card with the name of Stanley Agbara”, he said.

Fielding questions from journalists, Jackson Umosen, said he is a missionary pastor under the Omega Fire ministries and that he was  tricked by one of  the suspects to go and dedicate his new building in Edo State.

The police boss said the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
