Barrister Ladi Ahmed Jatto, the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Environment and Physical Development, was appointed in the first quarter of 2012 and was sworn-in at the Lokoja Township Stadium on 26th July, 2013 along with some other colleagues.

Lokoja is reputed to be one of the dirtiest cities in Nigeria with dysfunctional refuse disposal system. The huge dirt in Lokoja, though an eyesore, can be leveraged upon for great economic advantage.

Barrister Ladi and her team are currently working with the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja, to bring Multi-purpose Plastic Recycling Machines to Kogi State, as this will bring to reality the waste to wealth vision of the State Government.

She is also working with the Federal Ministry of Environment on behalf of Kogi State Government to introduce the REDD+ with the aim of protecting our forest reserves by ensuring that people exploit our forests in a sustainable manner, and to also enable the State earn Carbon Credits.

Ladi facilitated the unprecedented visit of the United Nations Under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, USG Baroness Valerie Amos to Kogi State; worthy of mention here is the fact that Valeria Amos visited a total of 4 states, and Kogi State happened to be the only State in the north which she visited, thus indicating the premium she places on Kogi State.

The Special Adviser on Environment and Physical Development has been saddled with the responsibility of supervising Federal Government funded Ecological Fund Office’s projects in Kogi State; ensuring that such projects was not abandoned.

Barrister Ladi has paid official visit to all nine (9) Local Government Areas which were affected by the flood of 2012 in order to ensure that preparedness measures are in place to avert/mitigate the occurrence/effect of flooding in 2013.

Her effort led to the modification of the Banda section of the ongoing Abuja-Lokoja road construction work, leading to the increase in height by one (1) metre, in order to avert a reoccurrence of the flooding of that section of the road as was the case in 2012.
