Henceforth, LG Chairmen Will be Held Accountable for Security Breach in Their Area – Wada

Council Chairmen in Kogi State have been told that henceforth that the Chairmen will be held accountable for any security breach in their area.

The Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, made this known at a sensitization workshop for Chairmen,Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, Treasurers and Directors of Local Government in the State. He urged council Chairmen be daily conscious of their personal security and that of their areas, and to constantly hold security council meeting with heads of security agencies in their areas.

The Governor warned that the Chairmen must live and administer their areas from their council areas, said the present administration in the state will cooperate with Anti-graft agencies in fighting corruption if the need arises in any of the Councils.

The Governor called on the Chairmen to strive to  maintain peace and security in their respective councils, considering the present challenge posed by insurgents, herdsmen, political thuggery and other insecurity bedeviling the country.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, explained that the present administration in the State has zero tolerance for corruption.

The Governor equally  tasked Council Chairmen to work in harmony with all their principal officers towards the rapid and sustained development of the State.

Earlier in his speech, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, Secretary to the State Government, said the sensitization seminar which is the fourth in the series in the present administration, is aimed at engaging elected and appointed key stakeholders in the state towards the attainment of the Transformation agenda in the State.

Various papers on the Tenets of the Transformation Agenda of the Wada administration, Symposium on Transformation, Transformation and good governance as well as creating an enabling environment for Transformation were some papers delivered by various resources persons including Dr Abdullahi Shehu, Director General of Inter-Governmental Action Group Against money laundering in West Africa.
