The Kogi State Government has begun another step in its string of activities aimed at keeping the capital city clean.
Capt. Idris Wada, the State Governor, used the sensitization visit to restate his administration’s determination to make the capital city clean, while on an inspection of various sites undergoing sanitation.
Represented by his Deputy, Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, Chairman, State Environmental Sanitation and Beautification Committee, explained that the first step which begins with enlightenment and persuasion, he added will be followed by strict enforcement.

The task of cleaning the capital city, Awoniyi maintained is collaborative. He said the capital city has been divided into five zones for effective coverage, and described a clean environment as key to the healthy living of the people.
He added that government will begin a house to house campaign aimed at involving those living in the capital city in the beautification process. He described Environmental Sanitation as a daily activities that should not be carried out only on specific days.
The present administration, the Deputy Governor stated will build walk ways, provide street lights and water in strategic places along the road, called on the people to key into the governments transformation agenda of keeping the city clean, without necessarily the use of force.
In their separate responses, those who spoke on the government’s new planned program, commended the efforts aimed at keeping the city clean, promised to key into the program which they termed as laudable.
