Nigerians of Northern Extraction have been asked to emulate the sterling qualities of selfless service and brotherhood as practiced by the Late Sadauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello for the development of the nation.
Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor stated this when he received alumni members of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria,ย Kogi State Chapter.
The Deputy Governor praised the vision of the Late Sadauana, whose vision led to the establishment of the institution.
Awoniyi said the institution was where he spent the best part of his life, added that he acquired so much from the institution that has helped shaped his life.
Arc. Yomi Awoniyi assured that the State Government has placed so much premium on the educational sector since assumption of office, stating that the investment in the education sector by any nation is aimed at improving the lives of the people.
Towards the ABU alumni program slated for the 8th ofย November, the Deputy Governor, pledged the support of the State Government and called on other alumni of the institution who are sitting on the fence to join hands in building an alumni that will assist in the socio economic transformation of the State.
Earlier in his speech, the State Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa and Chairman, ABU Alumni, Kogi State Chapter said, their visit is to felicitate with the Deputy Governor as one of the successful alumni produced by the institution in the State.
Dr. Moses Atakpa, described the Deputy Governor as a man whose cardinal principle of transparency, have endeared him to many hearts, urged him to remain supportive to theย Capt. Idris Wada led administration and to remain hard working in the discharge of his duties.
