A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Lokoja has urged Senator Sunday Karimi to accept a Federal High Court judgment affirming Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro as the authentic winner of the Kogi West senatorial primary.

Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, a former supporter of Karimi, said the ruling ends the legal dispute that followed the senator’s attempt to move the case from the Federal High Court in Lokoja to its Abuja division. He said the verdict reflects the will of the people and the decision of the party.

“I am one of his supporters, but it’s obvious the party’s interest is supreme to that of any individual,” Ibrahim said. “My loyalty henceforth is with Sam Aro, the next senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Ibrahim also distanced himself from ongoing political talks with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi West. He rejected the claim that the APC cannot win the district without Karimi.

He called on the senator to work for the candidate declared by the court and to support all APC candidates, from the presidency down to the state assembly.

Ibrahim also urged Karimi’s supporters to “change gear”. He described Aro as a credible person who has been “tested, trusted and found worthy.”

He congratulated Aro and asked him to “hit the ground running”, assuring him that supporters were ready to work alongside him.

Karimi had not publicly responded to Ibrahim’s remarks at the time of this report.
