Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, on Wednesday joined Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders and associates at a Night of Tribute held in honour of the late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih.

The event, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, formed part of the funeral activities for Orbih, who died on August 31, 2026, at the age of 64. The Night of Tributes was scheduled for 7:00 p.m., following a Requiem Mass at the Catholic Church of the Assumption, Asokoro.

Chief Dan Orbih was a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP, South-South, and former Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the party. He was also a prominent political associate of Wike, who, in his condolence message following Orbih’s death, described him as a “true friend” and committed political ally.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who attended the ceremony with her husband, joined family members, political associates and other dignitaries in honouring the late politician and commiserating with the Orbih family.

Speaking on the death of the PDP chieftain, the Senator described Orbih as a committed party man whose years of involvement in democratic politics left an enduring mark.

“Chief Dan Orbih was a committed party man whose years of service to the Peoples Democratic Party and democratic politics in Nigeria left an enduring mark. His contributions to the growth and organisation of the party, particularly in Edo State and the South-South, will not be forgotten,” she said.

She extended her condolences to Orbih’s family, political associates and the PDP family, praying for strength for those he left behind and eternal rest for the deceased.

The late Orbih was deeply involved in the organisational affairs of the PDP in Edo State and the South-South. His political career included years as Edo State PDP chairman before he rose to the national leadership of the party. He was also chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, until his death.

Wike had earlier described Orbih’s death as the “fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State,” underscoring the longstanding relationship between the two politicians.

The Abuja tribute marked the beginning of the final funeral rites for the late PDP leader, with his remains scheduled to proceed to Edo State for the concluding ceremonies in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area.
