The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has called on Nigerians to renew their collective commitment to peace, patriotism, and national prosperity as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
In an official press statement released on behalf of the University’s Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff, and students, Professor Usman extended warm felicitations to the Government and residents of Kogi State, as well as the entire nation, on reaching the milestone.
Reflecting on the nation’s journey, the Vice-Chancellor noted that 66 years of statehood provides an opportunity to celebrate key national achievements while confronting ongoing socioeconomic challenges. He described Nigeria as a nation endowed with vast human and natural potential, emphasizing that the inherent resilience, creativity, and determination of its citizens remain a beacon of hope for a brighter future.

Professor Usman stressed that nation-building is a shared obligation requiring active collaboration among government bodies, academic institutions, communities, and individuals. He urged citizens to embody the values of justice and responsible citizenship while supporting constructive initiatives designed to move the country forward.
Highlighting the pivotal role of tertiary education in driving national growth, the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to delivering quality learning, research, innovation, and character development. He stated that the university remains dedicated to producing graduates equipped to tackle both local and global challenges.
He also expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside the university’s governing organs and student body, for their continuous support toward advancing the institution’s vision.
Concluding his message, Professor Usman called for strengthened national bonds, mutual respect, and persistent effort across all sectors to build the prosperous nation desired by all citizens.
