The Management of Kogi State University, Kabba (KSUK) has officially released the approved academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session, providing a comprehensive schedule of activities for both new and returning students.
According to an official internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by Dr. J.U. Amodu, Registrar and Secretary to Council, the calendar was formally approved by the University Senate during its 16th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
The first semester will commence on October 5, 2026, with the resumption, registration, and orientation exercise for newly admitted students running through October 16. Returning students are expected to resume and complete their registration between October 12 and October 16, 2026.
Lectures for the first segment of the semester (Teaching Weeks 1 to 9) will begin on October 19 and run through December 18, 2026, followed by a Christmas and New Year break spanning December 21, 2026, to January 1, 2027. Academic activities will resume on January 4, 2027, for the second segment of lectures (Teaching Weeks 10 to 15), concluding on February 12, 2027. Continuous Assessment tests are scheduled in two phases: December 7 to 11, 2026, and February 15 to 19, 2027.
A week of revision is slated for February 15 to 19, 2027, preceding the first semester examinations, which will take place from February 22 to March 5, 2027. Marking of scripts will occur between March 8 and March 19, while result processing will conclude on March 26, 2027.
The second semester is structured to commence immediately on March 22, 2027, with resumption and registration lasting through March 26. Lectures for Teaching Weeks 1 to 8 will run from March 22 to May 14, 2027. Continuous Assessment for the second semester will be conducted in two sessions, from May 10 to May 14 and from June 28 to July 2, 2027.
Students will observe “Students’ Week” (with no lectures) from May 17 to May 21, 2027, after which the second phase of lectures (Teaching Weeks 9 to 15) will hold from May 24 to July 2, 2027. Revision week is scheduled for July 5 to July 9, 2027, followed by the second semester examinations from July 12 to July 23, 2027. Marking of scripts will be carried out from July 26 to August 6, while the external examination process and moderation of results will finalize the academic year between August 8 and August 12, 2027.
The university authority noted that all official national public holidays will be strictly observed throughout the academic year as declared by the government.
