In a major effort to improve healthcare accessibility and promote preventive health at the grassroots level, Dr. Tunde Ibiteye, in collaboration with Medical Initiatives for Africa, has finalized arrangements to host a comprehensive two-day medical outreach program for residents of Ekinrin-Adde Community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The medical intervention, scheduled to take place on September 25 and 26, 2026, aims to deliver essential healthcare services, facilitate early detection of common health conditions, and provide surgical interventions to residents who face challenges accessing specialized medical care.
The first day of the program, Friday, September 25, will center on health awareness, medical screening, and basic treatment. Activities will include public education and ultrasound screening for the prevention and early detection of breast and prostate cancers. The medical team will also screen adults for cataracts, hernia, and hydrocele, alongside conducting health checks, counseling, and treatment management for hypertension and diabetes. Children will benefit from deworming and vitamin A supplementation, while both adults and pediatric patients will receive malaria treatments following general health assessments.
Surgical interventions will follow on the second day, Saturday, September 26. Qualified patients identified and evaluated during the initial screening will undergo surgical procedures, including cataract surgeries, hernia repairs, and hydrocelectomies. The medical organizers noted that all operations will remain subject to clinical eligibility determined by the attending medical personnel.
The outreach marks the launch of a broader health campaign championed by Dr. Tunde Ibiteye as part of his commitment to community development and giving back to his constituency. While Ekinrin-Adde serves as the initial host, the initiative is structured to expand across communities in the Ijumu constituency to bring preventive medicine, timely diagnostics, and specialized treatments directly to rural residents.
