As preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Land Matters and the Olukoko Arolupotopoto of Ogidi Kingdom, Very High Chief Shuaib Ipinmisho, has empowered over 200 residents of Ogidi in Ijumu Local Government Area, while calling for sustained grassroots mobilisation for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The event, themed “Empowering Constituents for a Better Ogidi Community, a Prosperous Ijumu Oke and a Greater All Progressives Congress,” took place at the Ogidi Community Civic Centre. Beneficiaries comprising farmers, youths, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs received a wide range of support, including food items, agricultural machinery, and cash grants running into millions of naira.
Speaking during the outreach, Ipinmisho outlined the breakdown of the interventions, noting that deserving entrepreneurs would receive ₦100,000 each to expand their micro-enterprises, while over 200 other constituents would get ₦50,000 each to cushion current economic pressures. In addition, bags of rice and other household provisions were distributed alongside farm inputs designed to boost regional food production.
“This is what progressive politics looks like — real impact in the lives of our mothers in the market, our fathers on the farm, and our youth striving to stand,” Ipinmisho stated, adding that the exercise aligns directly with Governor Ahmed Ododo’s directive instructing political appointees to return to their home constituencies and consolidate APC support at the grassroots level.
The Governor’s aide expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for key political appointments granted to indigenes of Ogidi and Ijumu Oke. He further lauded the administration for remobilising contractors back to the long-neglected Asaya-Ogidi-Ayere Road, describing the infrastructure project as an indispensable economic lifeline for the region.
Corroborating these remarks, the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Ibrahim Haruna, commended Ipinmisho for his commitment to community development. Haruna emphasized the positive footprint of the Ododo administration across Ijumu LGA, particularly regarding support for traditional institutions and ongoing road construction, expressing confidence that the Asaya-Ogidi-Ayere corridor would soon be fully motorable.
Community leaders and party stakeholders, including the Olulokin of Ijumu Land, High Chief Jerry Lola Owonobi, and APC chieftain Alfred Bello, praised the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention for human capital development. Highlighting the direct operational impact of the exercise, beneficiary and local farmer Daniel Akomolafe noted that the agricultural equipment provided would enable him to scale up farm production while significantly reducing manual labour constraints.
The well-attended gathering, which drew political leaders, traditional rulers, party faithful, and community members from across Ogidi and Ijumu Oke, concluded with a raffle draw and award presentations honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the socio-economic advancement of the area.
