Senator Isah Jubril Echocho (Kogi East) and his Kogi West counterpart, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, have intensified grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmakers, who co-chair the Win With Tinubu (WWT) Grassroots Mobilisation Programme in Kogi State, flagged off the campaign in Idah Federal Constituency with a town hall meeting attended by party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women and supporters.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Echocho, Alhaji Salisu Edibo urged the people of Kogi East to remain united and continue supporting President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the administration had demonstrated goodwill towards the district through key appointments and the establishment of a military base in the area.
Representing Senator Karimi, Commodore Folusho Daniel (Rtd.) said the mobilisation programme was designed to deepen grassroots support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, and called on party members to remain steadfast and committed to the APC.
The State Programme Coordinator of WWT, Hon. Sani Philip, applauded the mammoth crowd for their overwhelming support for President Tinubu and the APC. He acknowledged Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, whom he described as the chief campaigner for President Tinubu’s re-election in Kogi State.
Hon. Philip urged the people to remain committed to the APC, stressing that the Igala-Bassa nation has no business in the opposition and must work collectively to deliver President Tinubu at the polls.
“We will work in this party to make sure it gets better. We will not leave the party for anybody. Rather, we will reposition it and make it better,” he said.
He urged party members to remain calm and continue working for President Tinubu, assuring them that a major empowerment programme was on the way. He also commended persons living with disabilities (PWDs) at the meeting, assuring them that their sacrifices for the party and its candidates would not be forgotten.
Community leaders and party faithful expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what they described as his goodwill towards the Igala people through strategic appointments and other interventions. They also called for increased federal presence and more developmental projects across the region.
Speakers at the event recalled the role played by the late Prince Abubakar Audu in laying the foundation of the APC in Kogi State and pledged to remain loyal to the party in honour of his legacy.
The meeting ended with a unanimous endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, with party leaders and supporters pledging to intensify grassroots mobilisation across Kogi East in support of the President’s re-election bid.
