A significant political realignment is underway in Kogi Central after a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Ododo, popularly known as Ozivava, publicly declared his support for the senatorial ambition of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
Ozivava led a delegation of loyalists to the residence of the former governor, who is now the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kogi Central senatorial seat. He was accompanied by fellow party figures including Hon. Siaka Jibril, a former councilor representing Ikuehi Ward, and Hon. Lawal Abdulmumin Amba of Ihima, along with a number of other dedicated APC members.
The group used the visit to formally pledge their loyalty to Bello’s bid to represent Kogi Central in the National Assembly, framing the endorsement as a unified push to strengthen his candidacy ahead of the senatorial race.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ozivava described Bello as a leader whose actions consistently reflect the interests of Ebiraland and Kogi State at large. He argued that the timing of Bello’s Senate ambition could not be better for the people of the district.
“This is the perfect time for the people of Kogi Central to have a representative who thinks about Ebiraland and the youths,” Ozivava said, positioning Bello as the candidate best placed to champion the region’s development and its young population.
In his response, Yahaya Bello thanked Ozivava and his supporters for their commitment to the development of Ebiraland and their continued dedication to the party. He pledged to govern, if elected, in a manner that places the interests of Ebiraland and its people above all else.
The former governor singled out the people of Ihima for particular appreciation, recalling their support since the earliest days of his political career.
“I see Ihima as my own home any day, any time. I appreciate the Ihima people for their support from day one of my political ambition till now,” Bello said.
