The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, North Central Zone, has honoured the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade (Chief) Onuh Edoka, with an Award of Leadership Legacy.
The award was presented at the Union’s North Central Zonal meeting held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Presenting the honour, the zone’s National Vice President, Comrade Murtala Seid Olayinka, said it recognised Edoka’s sustained commitment to the Union and his role in strengthening unity within the zone.
Olayinka noted that Edoka has continued to support the Union even after leaving the system, describing this level of cooperation as uncommon in the current era. He commended the Special Adviser as a worthy ambassador of the Medical and Health Workers Union and assured that the Union’s leadership would continue to recognise excellence in service delivery.
He also praised Edoka’s contributions to governance in Kogi State through his office as Special Adviser on Labour Matters, linking the present industrial harmony in the state directly to his efforts.
“We are in touch with our people, we know all that is going on in Kogi State, and we are happy to note that the industrial harmony being witnessed in Kogi State presently is the handiwork of Comrade Onuh Edoka. We are proud that he is doing well, so we have to offer him this award for his consistent support to the union,” Olayinka said.
The award was received on Edoka’s behalf by Comrade Amari Gabriel, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kogi State, who also chairs the Medical and Health Workers Union in the state. Gabriel described the honour as a greater call to service.
In his remarks, Edoka expressed gratitude to the Union’s leadership, saying it was in his nature to always add value to the people and organisations he serves. He dedicated the award to the Governor of Kogi State, whom he credited with creating an enabling environment for his office to function effectively.
