Rural farmers in Ogbabede Ward, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, have received a major boost to their farming activities following the distribution of essential agricultural inputs by the Biraidu Unity Foundation.

The distribution exercise was held on Saturday at the Palace of the Obisa of Ogbabede at Ajogwoni, the headquarters of Ogbabede Ward.

The event attracted traditional leaders, community representatives, farmers, and other stakeholders who gathered to witness the presentation of the farming materials.

Addressing participants, the Team Lead of the distribution exercise, Mr. Odoh Akowe, described the intervention as part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to supporting rural communities through practical and sustainable development programmes.

He explained that the Biraidu Unity Foundation is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting climate action, leadership development, healthcare, economic empowerment, and agricultural advancement.

Mr. Akowe noted that agriculture remains the primary source of livelihood for many families across rural communities. He said providing farmers with the right inputs would improve crop production, strengthen household incomes, and contribute to food security within the state.

He encouraged beneficiaries to make effective use of the materials to achieve better harvests during the farming season.

Quoting Proverbs 11:25, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed,” he said the Foundation believes that meaningful community development begins with practical support that improves people’s daily lives.

He added that the organisation would continue to work with individuals and institutions that share its vision of building stronger and more productive communities.

Items distributed to the farmers included herbicides, organic fertilisers, and knapsack spraying pumps. The materials were received on behalf of beneficiaries by the senior Gagos representing the three zones that make up Ogbabede Ward, ensuring fair distribution across the communities.

Other members of the delegation included the President of the Biraidu Unity Foundation, Hassan Attai Ahmed, and Mr. Okpanachi Amodu, who participated in the presentation of the items to community representatives.

The Foundation also acknowledged the support received from Hon. Gowon, popularly known as IJN, the member representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

His contribution was described as a key factor in the successful implementation of the project. Appreciation was equally extended to Mr. Aminu Augustine of Emewe Opada, whose financial support further strengthened the initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, community leaders expressed gratitude to the Foundation and its partners for the timely intervention.

They described the donation as a welcome relief for farmers facing the rising cost of agricultural inputs and expressed confidence that the support would improve farm productivity, increase food production, and strengthen the economic wellbeing of families across Ogbabede Ward.
