The Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sensitization and Mobilization to Kogi State Governor, Hon. Excel Onuche David, has dismissed as false and malicious a report circulating on some media platforms that he had died, insisting he remains alive and fully engaged in his official duties.

In a personally signed rejoinder, Onuche said he had been overwhelmed with calls and messages from family, friends, associates and well-wishers after the news report went viral.

In the rejoinder issued on Tuesday, Omuche described the publication as “false, reckless and malicious,” stressing that, by the grace of God, he is “alive, hale and hearty” and continues to serve under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Onuche criticised the platforms involved for publishing what he called a sensitive story without verification, saying the resulting confusion had caused unnecessary distress to people close to him.

“It is both shocking and irresponsible that such a sensitive story was published without any attempt at verification,” he said, adding that the report had caused needless anguish to his family, friends, and supporters.

He demanded the immediate removal of the publication from all platforms carrying it and called on those responsible to stop further circulation of the claim. He also gave a twenty-four-hour deadline for a full retraction and public apology, warning that failure to comply would leave him with no choice but to pursue legal action against those involved in publishing and spreading the report.

Onuche thanked those who reached out to check on him and used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to serving the people of Kogi State.

He was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Mobilization by Governor Ododo in July 2025, and was named State Coordinator for Kogi by the advocacy group Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) in September 2025.
