The member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Salman Idris, has commended the Nigerian Military, local vigilantes, hunters and other security operatives for their bravery and swift response in foiling a planned mass abduction of WAEC candidates during the terrorist attack on Iluke Community in Bunu District of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.
In a statement, Hon. Salman expressed deep sorrow over the killing of three community members and extended his heartfelt condolences to their families and the entire Iluke Community.
He vowed that criminals, under whatever guise, will never be allowed to take over his people’s ancestral lands.

Reports indicate that the attackers, disguised in military uniforms, disrupted an ongoing WAEC examination and had begun taking students into the bush before security operatives engaged them in a fierce gun battle, successfully rescuing all the students unharmed. One of the attackers was neutralized, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The lawmaker also commended the Kogi State Government for its prompt response and unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property.
Hon. Salman further disclosed that construction work on the Military Forward Operation Base he facilitated for Iluke Community is nearing completion. According to him, the facility will significantly strengthen military presence in the area, improve response time to security threats and further enhance the safety of lives and property across Iluke and neighbouring communities.
He called on security agencies to sustain the ongoing manhunt for the fleeing criminals and ensure that all those connected to the attack are apprehended and brought to justice.
“No matter how hard these criminals try, we will never surrender our ancestral land to them. We remain united, resilient and determined. Together, we shall defeat them and preserve the peace, dignity and heritage of our community. Iluke will stand strong.”
Hon. Salman assured residents of his continued support for all efforts aimed at securing communities and protecting lives across the constituency, urging them to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies.
