Residents of Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State are set to witness a major milestone in the quest to restore electricity to the area as the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ankpa Electrification Project by Hon. Idris Kashim Husseini, popularly known as Idris HK, has been scheduled to hold in two weeks’ time at Inter Ilona, Ankpa.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by prominent businessman, philanthropist and Kogi East senatorial aspirant, Idris HK, who has been spearheading efforts to reconnect the area to the national grid after years of power outage.

The planned ceremony marks a significant step in the implementation of the much-anticipated project, which has generated excitement among residents and stakeholders across Kogi East.
Recent updates from the project team indicate that preliminary assessments and technical evaluations for the electrification initiative have been completed, paving the way for the commencement of physical work on the project.
The Ankpa electrification project is expected to address the prolonged electricity challenges facing the area and surrounding communities, with residents expressing optimism that the intervention will stimulate economic activities, support businesses and improve living conditions.
The project has attracted widespread attention across Kogi East, with many describing it as one of the most significant infrastructure interventions currently underway in the region. Reports have also highlighted Idris HK’s involvement in various electricity-related interventions, including transformer donations and other community development projects across Kogi East.
As preparations continue for the groundbreaking ceremony, residents and stakeholders are expected to gather at Inter Ilona to witness the official commencement of a project many believe could transform the socio-economic fortunes of Ankpa and its neighbouring communities.
