The Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Right Reverend Paul Olanrewaju Ojo has enjoined Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu another chance to continue his excellent work of nation building.
The clergy gave the advise at the just concluded first session of the fifth Synod of the Diocese with the theme “Thanksgiving” held at Ogale-Idioro in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He applauded the education and economic reforms of the present administration, saying the Nigerian Students Loan Fund (NELFUND) is a commendable initiative of the President.
“Pray and seek the face of God. We have people that meant well for us. I am a Bishop and not a Politician. But as Church Leader who is educated, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu came into office with a clear agenda unlike those who campaign without a clear manifesto.
“This man came with clear agenda and we can hold him accountable. Is it education, economy and he is following it up? Give Tinubu a second chance. He is committed, we should not be in haste. I am not campaigning for him but I am talking as an educated person and a church leader.
“As an educationist, he has touched education. There is a Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a Student Loan initiative. That is aimed at giving tertiary education. He is the first President to ever do this that I know, you can’t eat your future and have it. I will advise and plead that you give him another chance. He should be respected because he has plans for now and the future,” he said.
He admonished Nigerians to have faith in God as the current insecurity bedeviling the State can be surmounted.
The Bishop, in his charge, said no matter the challenge, God has directed the people to always give thanks as it is key to receiving more from Him.
Right Reverend Ojo stressed the need to give president Bola Ahmed Tinubu another chance to continue his excellent work of nation building.
According to him, work is still ongoing on the Ijumu College of Nursing Sciences, Ogidi, stressing the need for well meaning individuals to support the project as it will empower the girl child when completed.
“By the grace of God, I settled down, found my fear and listened to God to know the felt need when I assumed office. I started with Agriculture because this is an agrarian Area and we planted 1000 palm trees on the Land that we have as a Church.
“Later we moved into secondary, nursery and primary schools. God has helped us, we built the first one and have even built the second one which is now in JSS 3. If we have money, we will build more. We love education to prepare our children for the future.
“We are Building the Ijumu Anglican College of Nursing Sciences to rescue the girl child first before we add the boy child. The girl child will be useless without education. The College will have School of Midwifery and
He stated that upon the take off of the College, the Diocese is targeting upgrading it to a University of Nursing Sciences Our Target is to Upgrade the College when operational to a University.
The Provost of Kogi State College of Education Ankpa, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba praised the efforts of the Anglican Church to peace and nation building.
On his part, the Ologale of Ogale, Oba Abdulrahaman Ibilola expressed delight that the Communities hosted the Synod for the first time since the establishment of the Diocese.
