Hon. (Prince) Bode Ogunmola has formally stepped down as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Ogori/Magongo State Constituency seat in the forthcoming Kogi State House of Assembly election, saying the move serves the best interest of his party and constituency.
Ogunmola announced the decision in a letter to the APC State Chairman in Lokoja. It was routed through the Ogori/Magongo LGA party office and the APC Aiyeromi Ward chairman.
“This decision was not taken lightly,” he wrote. The resolution, he said, came after deep reflection and consultations with his family and community elders.

He did not specify the circumstances that made his exit the preferred course. His letter named no successor and made no reference to internal party disagreements.
Despite stepping aside, the prince pledged loyalty to the APC. “I will remain a loyal party man and will work for the success of the party in all elections,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members who backed his candidacy during the primaries.
The withdrawal concerns the Ogori/Magongo State Constituency within Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area, one of Kogi State’s 21 LGAs. The seat is among those up for contest in the broader House of Assembly polls.
Ogunmola’s letter was copied to the National Chairman of the APC at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, as well as the LGA party chairman.
The APC has not publicly named a replacement. Whether the party fields an alternative candidate before election day remains unclear.
