A group, Kogi Democrats, has called on the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to remain focused on addressing the security challenges facing the state rather than spending prolonged periods outside the state.

The group made the call in a statement signed by its coordinator, Comrade Anthony Abiodun, and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday.

According to the group, the increasing cases of insecurity in parts of the state require the governor’s direct attention and decisive leadership to safeguard lives and property.

The statement urged the state government to intensify efforts toward tackling criminal activities and strengthening security across communities affected by attacks and other security threats.

“Kogi State is currently facing security concerns that demand urgent and sustained intervention. The governor should prioritize governance and ensure that effective measures are put in place to protect citizens,” the statement said.

The group also called on the administration to focus on delivering democratic dividends through improved infrastructure, healthcare, education and youth empowerment programmes.

While acknowledging some efforts by the government, Kogi Democrats stressed that residents expect more proactive leadership and visible action in addressing pressing challenges confronting the state.

The group appealed to relevant security agencies to collaborate closely with the state government to restore confidence among residents and ensure lasting peace across Kogi State.
