The Kogi East APC Youth Forum has dismissed what it described as a fabricated social media campaign purporting to suspend Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho) from the All Progressives Congress, saying the move lacks procedural grounding and is designed to destabilize party structures ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.
In a statement signed by Eneojo Sunday on behalf of the forum, the group said the purported suspension was orchestrated by unnamed individuals seeking to distort facts and create political tension within the party. No formal party disciplinary process was cited by those behind the campaign.
The forum directly challenged claims about the senator’s electoral performance. It maintained that Echocho won his polling unit in the 2019 elections and delivered significant support for then-Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration. During the 2023 governorship election, it said, the senator secured votes from his polling unit and several others across Kogi East despite what the group called intense political pressure.

Addressing the senator’s recent empowerment activity, the forum said the distribution of vehicles to Local Government Party Chairmen and tricycles to party stakeholders was not a personal gesture but a structural investment in grassroots mobilization. Support packages also went to youth leaders, women groups and party mobilizers, the forum noted.
Beyond political activity, the forum listed a series of constituency projects attributed to Echocho, including construction and renovation of school facilities, establishment of primary healthcare centres and cottage industries, installation of solar-powered streetlights, and support for community security structures across Kogi East.
“Political intimidation, propaganda, and media theatrics cannot erase years of sacrifice, loyalty, service, and visible contributions to the growth of the party,” the statement read.
The forum urged party members, supporters and the general public to disregard the social media campaign entirely.
Senator Echocho has not issued a personal statement in response to the purported suspension.
