Ijumu: Femi Obanewo Withdraws From 2027 House of Assembly Race

Hon. Obanewo Titus Femi has formally announced his withdrawal from the 2027 House of Assembly race.

‎In a public notice on Friday, Obanewo said he arrived at the decision after thoughtful consultations, intervention and special request of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The popular politician said he has resolved to step down and fully support the emergence of the party’s consensus candidate iIn the spirit of progress and collective interest.

“This decision is not borne out of weakness, but of strength, discipline, and a deep understanding that leadership is also about sacrifice and timing.

“Politics, like life, is a game of rhythm—knowing when to step forward and when to step aside. Today, I choose to step aside, not as an end, but as a bold recalibration.

“Let it be clear: my passion for service remains unshaken. My structure stays intact. My vision for Gbedde Constituency is alive. And when the time is right, I will return to the field—stronger, sharper, and even more prepared to serve.

“I sincerely appreciate God Almighty, my wife, the Obanewos in its entirety, my supporters across Aiyetoro Gbede Community, all Gbede and by extension Ijumu stakeholders, my childhood friend, Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege (aka Fancy) and my trusted friend, Engr. Friday Oloniyo,” he said.

‎Obanewo urged his supporters, stakeholders, and the good people of Gbedde Constituency to remain calm, united, and committed to the party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
