Kogi Poly Staff Slump, Dies in Lecture Room

Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Anselm Ahman Victory Ojodomo, collapsed and died on Thursday while delivering lecture to students.

The tragic incident occurred during a lecture session when the late academic suddenly slumped in front of students, sending shockwaves across the classroom.

Eyewitnesses said he was immediately attended to by colleagues and concerned students before being rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

Despite frantic efforts by medical personnel to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

The shocking development has left both staff and students devastated, with many struggling to come to terms with the abrupt loss.

Commenting on the sad incident, a colleague, Onoja Johnson Baba, said he was on his way out of the polytechnic when he saw students gathered, praying while some were trying to bring Anselm back to life.

he narrated how the students carried the lecturer on their shoulders and moved swiftly to the school clinic.

“In a twinkle of an eye, the school’s ambulance, it’s smart driver and a doctor moved him away. Few minutes later, he was confirmed dead. It appears he died immediately he collapsed.

“It has been a while I saw that kind of swiftness shown yesterday by the school clinic. I commend the school clinic management.

“His students tried their best. Many of them prayed and shed tears,” he said.

Sources within the institution described the late Ojodomo as a committed and passionate lecturer who gave his all to teaching and mentoring students.

Colleagues recalled his dedication to duty and his consistent efforts to inspire academic excellence within the Polytechnic.

Students, visibly shaken by the incident, described the moment as traumatic, noting that the late lecturer showed no prior signs of distress before the collapse.

The management of the Polytechnic is yet to release an official statement on the incident, as the institution grapples with the loss.
