The Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Kogi State has officially flagged off the distribution of rice to support residents observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.
The exercise, which commenced on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Lokoja, saw the distribution of rice to Local Government Coordinators for onward delivery to Muslim and Christian faithful across the state.
The initiative aligns with the directive of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the nationwide distribution of food items aimed at cushioning the impact of the fasting season on Nigerians.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Kogi State Coordinator of the group, Hon. Abdulaziz Idris King, said the intervention is designed to support indigent families and ease the burden of rising costs during the sacred period.
He noted that the gesture would help ensure that households, regardless of their financial status, can meaningfully observe and celebrate the season.
The coordinator expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a demonstration of compassion and commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.
He also commended the Director-General of the group and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, for his leadership and effective coordination of the initiative nationwide.
Hon. King also appreciated the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support and commitment to the development of the state.
The State Cordinator equally acknowledged the contributions of Umar Tanko Al-Makura, North Central Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, for his role in ensuring the success of the distribution exercise across the region.
Speaking shortly after receiving the consignment for Olamaboro Local Government Area, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Coordinator of the council, Comrade Hassan Ayuba, described the intervention as timely and impactful.
“It is indeed wonderful and highly timely considering the challenges people are currently facing. This shows that the President understands the plight of Nigerians and what they are going through at this moment,” he said.
On distribution, Ayuba assured that the rice would be shared fairly across all groups in the local government.
“It is going to be evenly distributed. Party officials, supporters, and the general public will all benefit. Even if it is in small portions, it will get to everyone so they can feel the impact.”
Also speaking, the Coordinator of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Mr. Muhammed Yusuf, commended the initiative, describing it as a strategic way of connecting government policies to the grassroots.
He emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement, noting that coordinators play a vital role in reaching citizens who may not have access to digital platforms or mainstream media.
On his part, the Coordinator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Adams Bala Justice, who spoke on behalf of Kogi West Cordinators, described the initiative as a well-targeted intervention that connects leadership with the grassroots.
“This gesture from the President is a step in the right direction. It shows he understands the needs of the people and is directly reaching out to them through his ambassadors at the grassroots,” he said.
He further urged residents to support the continuity of the current administration at both the federal and state levels.
“My advice to the people is to believe in the continuity of the administration of President Tinubu and the Governor of Kogi State, as it is through this continuity that the true dividends of democracy will reach the people.”
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Kogi reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, noting that the initiative continues to bring relief and hope to Nigerians.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had recently directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to commenced nationwide distribution of rice to support Nigerians observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.
