Prominent political activist and youth leader, Comrade Usman Okai Austin has described former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the pivotal force in reclaiming Nigeria’s democratic future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Following a strategic private audience with the Waziri Adamawa, Okai revealed that their deliberations focused on the urgent need for a formidable opposition.

He noted that with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) currently engulfed in an unresolved internal crisis, Atiku’s leadership in building a broad-based coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is both timely and visionary.

According to Okai, the formation of this coalition has saved many political stakeholders from being left “helpless” by the instability within their former party.

“Atiku’s political experience has provided a vital alternative to a ruling party that has failed on its own campaign promises,” Okai stated. “Today, we are no longer at the mercy of those intent on destroying the PDP from within, because a stronger coalition has emerged courtesy of Atiku’s foresight.”

Okai further emphasized that without the ADC-led coalition, the voice of the Nigerian opposition would have been effectively silenced. He commended the former Vice President’s resilience and his storied career in public service, dating back to his time in the Nigeria Customs Service.

“He is a leader who truly listens,” Okai added, describing the meeting as an exercise in mutual respect where the former Vice President took careful note of grassroots concerns. “He is deeply committed to the survival of the nation’s democratic structures and ensuring that the opposition remains a formidable force for the common man.”

Comrade Okai concluded by urging opposition supporters to remain steadfast, reaffirming his confidence in the new direction with the slogan, “Okai is Okay “
