Within the last two months, the so, called GYB boys, led by my erstwhile friend, Alfred Bello, have coordinated no fewer than two contrived “endorsement meetings” for Governor Ododo among Okun stakeholders. These gatherings, cloaked in deception and political manipulation, expose the frightening level of desperation now gripping the camp of Yahaya Bello and his political heirs.
One disturbing pattern has remained consistent, deliberate deception in invitations.
A few months ago, invitations were circulated for what was described as an Okun Security Meeting. Many well, meaning stakeholders attended in good faith, only to discover, upon arrival, that the agenda had been cynically altered to an endorsement of Governor Ododo. Worse still, the so, called communiqué issued after the meeting bore no resemblance to the views expressed by most participants. Several respected attendees have since openly condemned the report as a complete misrepresentation of the discussions held.
The same script was repeated again in January.
This time, invitations were anchored on Unity and Peace in Okun Land. Once again, unsuspecting stakeholders were ambushed with an endorsement agenda mid, meeting. Some attendees openly protested and walked out. Yet, in a brazen act of misinformation, a voice, over video is now being circulated to falsely claim that the meeting resolved that Ododo should remain in office until 2031. This is not politics, it is outright falsehood born out of panic and fear.
Let it be stated clearly, Okun people are no longer deceived.
Our people are determined to take their destiny into their own hands. The resolve across Kogi West is firm and irreversible, power must rotate to Kogi West by 2028. The time for backroom negotiations is long past. For ten solid years, Yahaya Bello and his political structure had ample opportunity to design and implement a fair rotational framework for Kogi State. They deliberately chose not to. That failure was not accidental, it was strategic. Today, they want to impose perpetual domination through manipulation and staged endorsements. It is too late.
We have been beaten many times, sidelined repeatedly, and mocked persistently. But from those wounds has emerged a people wiser, more united, and more determined than ever before.
These fake endorsements are already backfiring. Their architects know it.
They know this moment represents the best opportunity Kogi West has had in decades. God, in His providence, has granted us influence, unity, and national relevance at this critical time. If we are deceived into waiting until 2031, that influence may be lost. This is why the panic is palpable.
They parade the faces of revered Obas, believing, wrongly, that no traditional ruler would openly challenge the governor’s agenda. But they forget one thing, we are in touch with our Obas. We know where many of them truly stand. When the time comes, the truth will speak louder than propaganda.
The fear in the GYB camp has been further heightened by one undeniable fact, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke will be on the ballot.
No one expects Faleke to speak now. Strategy demands silence. But 2027 will unleash a wave of political realignments that will shock many. The tremors are already being felt, hence the jitteriness, hence the desperation.
Faleke represents more than a candidacy. He represents hope, justice, and strategic relevance for Kogi West. His closeness to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places our zone in a position of unprecedented national advantage, an advantage that must not be squandered.
The dateline is clear.
2028 is non negotiable.
No amount of forged communiqués, deceptive meetings, or propaganda videos can change the course of history. The people of Okun land have awakened. And when a people awaken, no force, political or otherwise, can put them back to sleep.
