Commissioner Assures Lokoja Residents of Regular Water Flow During Yuletide Season

The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr Yahaya MD Farouk, has announced that efforts to ensure a steady supply of water to residents of Lokoja metropolis through the Old Lokoja Water Works will commence Thursday morning.

The commissioner made this disclosure at 10:30 pm on Wednesday after inspecting the treatment and pumping of water from the water plant to various reservoirs.

According to Engr Farouk, water will be released to traditional areas of Lokoja tomorrow morning, followed by the GRA.

He emphasized that all staff of the water works will work tirelessly to ensure that the required quantity of water is treated, achieved, and supplied to various reservoirs across the metropolis for sustained supply to residents during the yuletide season.

The commissioner stated that the administration of Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo has prioritized the water sector and provided the necessary support to deliver on its mandate. He added that the government has ensured a steady supply of power and provided sufficient diesel to run generators in case of power failure, guaranteeing an uninterrupted water supply.

Engr Farouk assured that all parts of Lokoja within the metropolis that receive water from the Old Lokoja Water Works will experience regular flow of water until the beginning of January 2026.

He stated that he will be conducting regular visits to the water treatment plant to monitor staff performance and ensure seamless water supply to residents.
