The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has deployed adequate and reinforced police personnel along the Lokoja–Abuja highway to ensure public safety, effective traffic control, and the prevention of traffic congestion and potential road accidents.

The Command spokesperson, CSP William Aya, in a statement on Monday, said the deployment follows the ongoing construction activities and road diversions along the highway, which have resulted in increased vehicular movement and traffic clustering.

Present at the scene yesterday alongside the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the CP was seen working hands-on to ease the passage of commuters.

According to the spokesperson, personnel deployed include Police Mobile Force (PMF), Motor Traffic Section, Safer Highway Patrol Teams, Rapid Response Squad and other conventional police units. These personnel have been strategically positioned at critical points, diversion routes, and designated checkpoints to regulate vehicular movement, prevent gridlock, and ensure prompt response to any traffic or security-related challenges.

The Commissioner of Police charged the deployed officers and men to discharge their duties with the highest level of professionalism, firmness, and civility, while ensuring strict compliance with traffic regulations and safety measures.

Members of the public, particularly motorists plying the Lokoja–Abuja Highway, are advised to exercise patience, obey traffic instructions, observe road signs and diversions, and cooperate fully with law enforcement officers deployed for traffic management duties.

The Kogi State Police Command said it remains resolute in its commitment to the protection of lives and property, and will continue to deploy proactive strategies to ensure safety and order on major highways across the state.
