Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Elder Leke Joseph Abejide, has prayed for restoration of peace across the country, particularly in communities affected by insecurity.
Speaking on the sidelines of 2026 Christmas Carol organized by the Christian Legislators Fellowship, Abejide called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of efforts aimed at strengthening democracy and good governance.
The carol service, held at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, brought together senators, members of the House of Representatives, clergy and staff of the federal legislature in a solemn atmosphere of worship and thanksgiving.
Abejide described Christmas as a season that calls for love, peace and service to humanity, urging Nigerians to uphold values that promote unity and national development.
“Christmas reminds us of sacrifice, compassion and hope. As leaders, we must continually put the welfare of the people first and work towards building a more just and peaceful nation,” he said.
According to Abejide’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Bashiru Abdul Mohammed, the annual Christmas Carol organised by the Christian Legislators Fellowship has become a tradition within the National Assembly, providing a platform for lawmakers to reflect spiritually and renew their commitment to public service.
The event featured scriptural readings, choral renditions and special prayers for the nation, its leaders and citizens as the country prepares to celebrate the Christmas season.
