An Acceptance Speech Delivered by Comr Salihu Adam Jiddah, ASUU Chairperson, Federal University of Kashere (FUK) – 16-12 2025

Distinguished comrades,

The National Executive Council (NEC) of our mighty Union, ably represented by our Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Professor Namu;
The Chairperson of ATBU, Comrade Chair Angulu;
The Chairperson of Saadu Zungur University (formerly Bauchi State University Gadau), Comrade Chair Auwal;
The representative from our sister branch, Gombe State University (GSU); Comr Aliyu,
Our Immediate Past Chairperson, Comrade Elrasheed;
My IPC who was my successor and now my predecessor, I recognize in absentia the Comr Vice Chair Prof Muhd Ramadan who humbly and voluntarily withdrew his nomination after a short phone call to me last few weeks to inform me of his decision and reinterate his hope in our mandate and above all, the unbreakable heartbeat of our Union—OUR CONGRESS OF SOLIDARITY!

With profound nostalgia, I humbly accept this nomination with this overwhelming mandate. Today the Congress stayed on one side, giving up 90% of the entire votes cast. It is a testament of our storied past, a beacon of our enduring legacies that this branch has recognized as the new face of hope. This branch stands as the unshakeable anchor of our Zone, resilient against every storm. I therefore pledge to our Comrade ZC that under our watch, it will rise even stronger, forged in unity and solidarity.

My fellow members, today is not merely a day for words—it is a day for reflection. In recent years, being a lecturer in Nigeria has been a trial in fire, here in Kashere, it has been an inferno; with so many broken lines and stories from our members.

The harsh truth is that as long as we draw breath, these battles will rage on. But here’s our thunderous victory: our ironclad resolve to confront them head-on, with ONE VOICE, under the banner of our GREAT UNION!

Comrades, the task ahead is daunting, the expectations are sky-high; but we are built for this! We know the job intimately, and we are fiercely committed to delivering for you, every step of the way.

Our first convenant before I agree to accept this nomination was my commitment to stand for the family our deceased members. A project I will be committing a huge part of this journey to, ensuring that our wonderful comrades who stood tall with us shall be remembered adequately through those they have left behind.

In the next few days, a committee shall be set up to look at all issues surrounding their benefit, at branch and national and with the Federal Government through our University.

We will never let them down so long as we are here with your mandate.

Thank you for this profound honor. Together, we triumph!

Comrade Salihu Adam Jiddah
Chairperson, ASUU FUK
