The Executive Chairman of Ijumu local government area of Kogi State, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, will on Thursday, December 25, 2025, be conferred with a ‘Nobel Peace Award’ by the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ikoyi.
In a statement by the Secretary, Award Committee, ESV. Ekundayo Adebogun Obamiyi, the award is in respect to his assiduous efforts in stabilizing a peaceful co-existence in Ijumuland.
ESV. Obamiyi said for a decade now, Ijumuland has been witnessing a massive influx of people from different parts of the country, and ever since Hon. Haruna assumed office, Ijumu land has witnessed a stabilized, peaceful atmosphere.
“The chairman also curtailed the security threat of various groups by putting in place different security measures,” he said.
On the same day, Asiwaju (Prince) Olatunji Olusoji, Chief (Engr.) Paul Duro Ajisafe, Prof. Zachaeus & Mrs. Rachael Oguntebi, and Amb. (Dr.) Olusegun Ijagbemi will be bagging the humanitarian hero of the Century Award.
This recognition, the statement added, is given due to their unending contributions to the church and society.
“Their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemics in bringing succour to the people of Ijumuland were outstanding.
“Among those that will be awarded that day are Barr. Funsho Ojumoro, Prof. Juwon Johnson Orugun, who recently had his inaugural lecture at Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba. They will be presented with the Leadership Award.
“Chief (Mrs.) Bola Ijagbemi-Sani will receive an Outstanding Community Service Award for her immense contributions through her foundation to the education of our children in Ijumuland. The family of Pa. Elijah Bayode will receive a Special Award of Recognition for their unrelenting efforts toward the growth of the church and the betterment of society. Also, Chief (Mrs.) Esther Eniolorunda, Chief (Mrs.) Emily Fatimehin, and Chief (Mrs) Lydia Oguntebi will receive Special Award of Recognition.
“Distinguished Service Award will be conferred posthumously on Late Oba Emmanuel Orimolade Olufogbe, Late Mrs. Emily Obamiyi, Late Chief (Hon.) Joseph Ade Adeleye, Late Mr. Jacob Sunday Adeigba, Late Chief Stephen Olawunmi Mobayo, Late Chief Jacob Olobatoke Otitoju, Late Chief Amos Olorungbon, Late Pa. Abel Sunday Olufe, Late Lt. Gen. Rufus Modupe Kupolati, Late Chief Joshua Olorunmotito Borida, and Late Chief Samuel Oladele Oguntebi.
“Award of Excellence Service will go to Venerable Peter and Mrs. Beatrice Kolade, the vicar of the church who has been working very hard to see the church growing spiritually and physically.”
The church intends to build monumental projects in remembrance of her heroes and heroines.
The service is expected to witness the attendance of many sons and daughters of Ikoyi and Ijumuland.
